How We Started

“Play Charlotte” is run by the two brothers Scotty and Evan Kent a.k.a. The Buzz Brothers. Over three years ago we started a grassroots campaign, “Bring Back The Buzz”, it’s purpose was to create excitement surrounding the NBA in Charlotte and generate a fan based push to get the Charlotte Bobcats to rebrand back to the Charlotte Hornets. Over the years our brand has flourished and has become larger than we could have ever imagined. We are followed by more than 20 thousand people across our social media sites and have a blog that has been visited by over a hundred thousand fans from across the world. Right now we are growing on an average of 10% every two months. Our name is synonymous with not only Hornets but all sports in Charlotte to those across the country. We have committed ourselves to doing whatever it takes to bring and maintain a Sports Culture in our beloved “Buzz City”!

People have constantly approached us with their concern about Sports Bars and Restaurants in Charlotte either not playing Charlotte Sports Teams  Games on their TV’s or being reluctant to do so. We had similar experiences and it was very aggravating getting “the look” from servers when we asked if they could turn on a game. So we decided to take the same effort we put into “Bring Back The Buzz” and start a project that would highlight venues willing to play the games on their TV’s and help our followers find them! hence was born “Play Charlotte”
